I would have loved to go to that. Unfortunately, I don't drive.

I'm so sorry you couldn't get there. I you didn't live to far from Ft. Thompson/Lower Brule I would have gladly picked you up. Virginia Hanson, from the SD State Archives, is very knowledgeable about the Sioux. She enjoys her job so is very helpful to everyone. Donna

Thank you for your info on the SD State Archives, Pierre, SD and Ms. Virginia Hanson. Virginia is quite knowledgeable in Indian genealogy when I was doing research in Pierre in December. Virginia's telephone # at the SD State Archives is (605) 773-3458 if you ever have a need to contact them. Thank you. This is wanbligi on Jan. 17, 2007 at 8:55 p.m.

Any chance there will be another of these genealogical meetings? I didn't see this until it was too late, othewise I would have gone to it. Did anyone go and if so, can you let us kow a little about what was learned from this experience? Is it something we should try to put together at a location closer to home? I know we are spread out all over, but if there were enough to make a meeting like this worthwhile, would someone be interested in setting it up or helping to set it up? I am in the Sioux City area.

Maybe if a genealogical meeting is set up, we could get together a carpool for those who don't drive or cannot afford the gas. Just a thought.
Everyone have a wonderful day. Keep warm.
